The builder: one image, every format separately

How a background, a logo and a few lines become a post in every format you need.

The builder is on its way. This article describes how it works; it is not in your screen yet.

Not rescaling, but laying it out again

Cropping a finished image ruins it: a logo falls off, or a head. That is why Ploffo does not do it.

But a post that does not exist yet can be laid out separately in every format. The difference is the moment. You are not cutting up an existing composition; you are putting the same ingredients down again each time on a different canvas.

How it goes

  1. You open a brand’s build folder and drag your material in.
  2. The builder proposes one composition, in the format you are working in.
  3. If it is right, you tick where the post has to go — upright feed, story, reel cover, landscape for LinkedIn.
  4. Every format is laid out afresh. The photo gets a different crop point within its own frame, the title breaks somewhere else, the logo moves to the corner that is free on that canvas, and for a story the top and bottom bands stay empty because that is where the platform’s buttons sit.

The words may come from either side

Type a title and a subtitle yourself and they are used verbatim. Give a few words instead — “new booth in Ghent, open from Saturday” — and you get a proposed hook line and subtitle, following the writing rules in your brand folder.

Every proposal is a proposal: you get three, you choose, and your change is remembered like any other correction.

What never happens

  • No text over a face.
  • No logo outside the safe zone.
  • No letter below the minimum size in your brand folder.
  • No image that gets invented. Everything that ends up in the post you supplied, or it is in the brand folder.
  • Nothing that leaves on its own. This too lands in the calendar as a proposal and only goes out after approval.

It is not a template machine

Elsewhere it starts with a template: the program picks an existing layout, pours your photo into it and lays your brand colours over the top. Here that template does not exist.

There is material and there is a rulebook. A rule enforces what is not allowed and leaves the rest free; a template prescribes how it looks and turns every brand into the same brand. You only see that difference after three months: posts that look alike because the brand is consistent, not because the program is.

Everything stays takeable-apart

The composition is kept as layers, not as a flattened picture. You can change the title afterwards without starting over, and put a successful layout into your brand folder as a template so the next post resembles it straight away.
